"Volunteer Days" at the Mt Hymettus Aesthetic Forest
Help protect one of the most important natural spaces in Athens.
The Philodassiki Society of Athens, which created and manages the Mt. Hymettus Aesthetic Forest, currently offers the "Volunteer Days" program, inviting the community to contribute to the preservation and protection of this invaluable green space, a vital natural resource for the capital.
PURPOSE AND GOALS
The "Volunteer Days" are designed to engage individuals interested in joining the ongoing efforts of the Philodassiki Society of Athens to care for the Mt. Hymettus Aesthetic Forest. Volunteers will participate in key activities, such as strategically planned clean-ups, watering plants, clearing trails, pruning bushes and trees, removing invasive species, and caring for the nursery.
Your participation will contribute significantly to the long-term preservation of the forest.

- Location: Mt Hymettus Aesthetic Forest
- Date: The first Saturday of each month*
- Time: 10:00 – 12:30 (2.5 hours)
*Excluding holidays—volunteer groups will be notified in advance of any schedule changes. The confirmed dates for 2025 are January 11 and February 1.
LIMITED AVAILABILITY
To ensure a meaningful and well-organized experience, participation is limited to 20 people per session.
WHO CAN JOIN
We welcome all community members aged 16 and above (students, educators, and anyone with a passion for nature and the forest). Whether you have experience in forest protection or not, your contribution is vital.

ORGANISING
The Philodassiki Society of Athens will provide all necessary tools, gloves, and equipment to ensure a safe and productive experience.
ACTIVITIES
The volunteer team is led by a coordinator who provides guidance and support. Each session begins with a brief overview covering the significance of the area and Philodassiki’s work, along with safety procedures, planned activities, and the impact of the ongoing efforts.
Activities vary each month, tailored to the forest’s current needs. Seasonal changes and weather conditions influence the maintenance schedule.
